Woo I’m glad I went Boomkin for BGs >.>

I’m feral and often throw on my resto gear in BG’s. Healing acts as a massive force multiplier in a battle. 2 DPS and a healer can often take out 5 or 6 enemys who don’t have a healer. It’s a lot of fun and makes a nice change from feraling all the time. It must be hard DPS’ing as Boomkin – seeing Boomkins seem to have a massive threat multiplier I know I go out of my way to kill them in BG’s Edited, Sep 2nd 2008 11:12pm by What are you trying to tell me? That I can out-tank & out-DPS them all? Druid Trainer: No RareBeast. I’m trying to tell you that when you have read the Feral Druid Numbers thread, you won’t have to.

Will Durids get free respect in WoLK?

OK, I don’t usually do this but… Durids… respect… sigh… How bout this… Will Druids get free Re-Spec in WotLK?yeah the new talent trees take up your entire screen with the patch… it’d be nice if the armory updated so those in your situation could get a view of it all and see what you’re in for. There’d be no reason to do the same thing again when WotLK comes out because the talents aren’t undergoing another drastic change like that. I’m hating 2pc T9 (Cat)

I’ve made the jump from 4pc T8 to 2pc T9 & 2pc T8 and I’m not liking it (Head/Hands T9 i245: Head I bought, Hands I won 25VoA; not my ideal choice of 2pc T9 for reference, namely because I wouldn’t really want to use the hands in a 2pc T9 build). For AOE pulls, I’ve found myself wanting as far as the timer on Savage Roar goes. It’s just not lasting long enough if you’re getting one combo point off that first mangle or rake to Savage Roar with. For most 5man content it seems ok. Sometimes even there a little annoyingly short. And in AOE pulls, Savage Roar is a pretty large benefit if the aoe group’s health lasts long to go with the increased duration of SR. But the increased Rake timer is practically worthless for AoE. For Single Target pulls (Raid Boss), I’ve found it less fun not being able to throw in Ferocious Bites as often because so many points keep getting dumped into SR. Rake was one of those abilities that was worth easy cheap combo points while being comparable to Shred in damage and now because of the increased duration I’m not getting those cheap combo points as often. That in conjunction with having to reapply SR more often, it just feels really weird compared to 4 pc T8. On the training dummy, moving from two 226 T8 pieces to two 245 T9 pieces, I’ve lost ~300 to 400 DPS over the course of several 5min tests (I don’t training dummy test with berserk since it’s an extra variable that can play out really randomly). And almost all of my tests at the end of those 5mins for each gear set are within 60 dps of eachother. So 300 to 400 DPS off between the two sets seems really weird, and backwards. And to be honest, I should probably further clarify. This 300 to 400 DPS difference is comparing the two pieces of T8 without a working meta to two pieces of T9. I moved my 10stats to the new helm and regemmed the rest of the gear a bit so I don’t even have a working meta in the old T8. If you look at it from that angle, I’m actually down closer to 500 dps with this change of gear on the dummy. I was almost always hitting 4600 DPS (5mins with no berserk) on the dummy with the 4pc T8 before I wrecked the meta for it. Now I’m doing ~4100 with the T9 and 4300/4400 without a meta in the T8. I can explain away a bit of the DPS loss being that some of the hit on the gloves is just plain wasted. So some itemization issues for my gear. In a raid setting/single target boss, it doesn’t really feel like I’ve lost anything, but then, those are harder to compare one time to the next with so many different variances in the group make up, etc. All said, It feels slow, sluggish as far as the rotation itself goes. I don’t like it. I’m not too worried about the DPS loss on the dummy because RNG and wasted hit and not a raid setting, all that jazz, etc. Any others with an opinion to share? Kitty meets the Devourer of Souls

As long as people know the tactics, it’s actually a very easy fight so I’d recommend you stick to direct damage and only use Rake immediately after a Mirrored Soul expires. It’s not fool-proof, but any healer worth his salt should be able to handle a Rake tick on someone adequately geared. The hardest part in there for me is when all those ghosts spawn, but it’s still nothing compared to Halls of Reflection. Most deaths I’ve seen on that boss thus far have been because of people not knowing how Mirrored Soul works, that large colored spots on the floor might hurt them or that large laser beams could do ouch. Boils down to general understanding of an encounter and some common sense. If you were pet-tanking the place, I’m assuming you weren’t running with a PUG. Take some time to explain tactics and bring down the pain if they fail badly. Otherwise they’ll never learn to listen. Too many ADD players as it is. I’ve had my fair share of “You all know the tactics?”

BM PvP questions

I’m a 33 BM hunter so I can level quickly. I’m looking to get PvP advice from some BM hunters out there regarding certain classes. First off as a general question. Is Bestial Swiftness key in order to kite properly as a BM hunter? Yesterday in STV I was kiting a rogue 5 lvls above me using frost traps, stings, and what I thought was my pet. Anyhow, I did a 180 concuss shot on this guy so I could drop an arcane shot before I went back to kiting and I looked back to see my pet was like 10 yards behind the rogue. Did I just look back at an off moment or will players outrun my pet unless it has bestial swiftness? Second. Yesterday I was fighting a lock of equal level and we kept pretty much splitting the wins 50/50. Like I said I’m BM so this fight probably would have been easier were I MM. I fought him when he used a VW, Succubus, Felhound, and Imp (yeah this went on for like an hour but I was having fun testing new strats). The VW and Felhound were easy, I just freezing trapped it and then went after the lock. He quickly abandoned both (dunno why he would even use a VW in PvP or a Felhound against a non-caster). Anyhow I had a bit more trouble with the next two. With succubus he would chain charm me and then go after my pet. I wasn’t really ready for him to use this strat and I had no way to break out of the charm. Once my pet was dead I’d generally lose. I was being stubborn and living by the “pet dies with his master” plan so I kept going for the lock. Looking back, maybe I should have gone for the succubus first? I don’t have a lock so I’m not totally familiar with the succubus abilities other than charm. And finally, I had similar problems with the imp. I was kind of stupid and kept trying my freezing trap strategy that I used against the VW and Felhunter. However, cos the imp stands right next to the lock, anytime I got close he’d fear me so I could never trap the imp. He moved on to a new area so it ended with me losing to the imp and afterward I got to thinking… When I’m fighting a lock with an imp out should I actually take out the imp first? I was thinking so for a few reasons. 1. The imps DPS is actually a decent amount. 2. The imp provides extra mana for the lock. That extra mana can be life tapped by the lock. 3. The imp has low HP and will die quickly. Any help would be appreciated.

Exploring the Survival tree..

Depends on what you want to do. For DPS, survival isn’t the greatest. However, it’s fantastic for arena PVP. You have a 12-second CC, high health, some in-your-face abilities, your traps are buffed, you have less chance of being stunned, and overall quite a good amount of survivability. If you’re only looking at arena combat, this is a good build:

Need Advise (raiding.)

Role of hunters in raids is almost purely DMG. So collect gear which pushes your RAP and crit and don’t ignore int and manareg. Some fights you will need a lot of HP, so try to collect some gear which has more stamina on it but still add a lot to your RAP and crit (perhaps 7,5k unbuffed are enough so). Now and then you might have to kite a mob (still have not seen a mob to be kited in BC raid content, but in 5man heroics it is necessary now and then). Another thing being of some importance is usage of misdirection. Thats a very great skill, so make sure you know how to use it and place it somewhere on you UI where you can easily reach it (sounds pretty basic but I’ve had a hunter in my raid who did not know how to use that skill for the first three wipes g).-Hunter FAQ SW 6/6; Thori’dal, the Stars’ Fury more bag space since Oct 28 I am curreently lvl 65.7 and since raiding is getting close now: What kind of stats should I have? And are there any things I need to know/have? KLH/ts/vent excepted, i already have that) I would appreciate any help from hunters who have experience with the new raids. I have never raided before, so really any help is welcome. (i do know how to play my class, just not in raids.) -?thien – God Emperor of Hunters and Priest Forum Mean Person. where do you think you are posting? there are a lot of good hunters gathered here, all one needs to do is ask a good question and we will answer.- God Emperor of Hunters and Priest Forum Mean Person. I briefly toyed with the idea of creating a guild for this purpose, but I love my current guild and would hate to leave it. Besides, a guild that is comprised of a single class would be pretty useless. But still, a group of skilled hunters teaching classes would be a very good thing. We could have grades: lowbie, pre-40, 40-60, and endgame. There could be different courses: PvE (though that comes pretty easily to us), PvP, battleground, and instance. I know I would benefit from more skilled hunters teaching me how to pull in various circumstances, how to kite, etc. We could also emphasize proper behavior, like NOT rolling against warriors or rogues for good melee weapons, and tossing a few arrows at a mob that looks to be squishing a neighbor, even if we won’t get anything out of it. The more I learn about playing a hunter, the more I realize I need to know. And I’d like to help other people so they don’t have to spend as much time behind the curve as I did. And we might just help the overall hunter reputation while were at it -Be who you are and say what you feel, for those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind. -Dr. Seuss

Taming a Low Level Pet

Try to look at it as a very long quest. smiles If you want the pet badly enough it??l be worth the effort. One of my hunters tamed a level 25 black widow spider when she was level 55. Trust me, it can be done. I would suggest grinding on mobs that will do more than give your pet XP. Grind on mobs that will give you rep, or profession supplies or at least good drops. I found it easier to level my pet when I was also working towards a secondary goal. Best of luck. -”Too many requests! Slow down!” Yes, thank you, I should take the time to savor the experience of purchasing 37 chicken eggs. Calabar (50 Hunter) – Farli (27 Minstrel) – Raedan (21 Champion) – Lyndian (23 Guardian) – Bannik (21 like I’m in for a fair amount of green grinding then! There are a few friends I have that would be happy to run me through some easy instances. Thank you for the feedback, I will continue to monitor for additional ideas. For him to gain experience you would have to kill mobs green to you, not to him. A faster way would be to do instances your level, and keep your pet out, as he will leech the exp without being a hindrance. What I would do is just go to some instances that are your level but not at all tough and bring the pet along. He’ll get exp and level and you can continue to prgress in-game. That reduces the risk of the pet dieing as much as doesnt need you to kill a bunch of useless mobs. Just a thought.I’ve reviewed the stickies, guides, multiple forums and asked in game friends but I am unable to obtain guidance with this particular issue. There is a rare spawn mob that I really like the look of. I want to tame the little fella. The only problem is he’s about 20 levels lower than I am. I don’t know how to go about leveling him up. Would killing mobs his level give him xp or would I have to kill mobs my level? Your thoughts are appreciated! Thanks in advance.
